AI filmmaking questions
What are the best AI video tools for short films?
It depends on your style, budget and whether you need recurring characters. Greenlight AI tracks 25 tools (including OpenArt, Kling AI, Runway, Google Veo, Higgsfield, ElevenLabs, Suno and CapCut) with pricing last verified 2026-10-15. The free Pipeline Picker recommends a stack for your film in five questions, with monthly cost and gotchas.
How do I keep AI characters consistent across shots?
Generate several variants of each character, lock one as a saved character, and reference that locked character in every later shot. That is the reject → lock loop used on All the Pretty Seahorses in OpenArt. See the case study.
How much does it cost to make an AI short film?
Tool subscriptions are the main cost. The Pipeline Picker estimates a monthly total for your stack against the budget you set (from $0 up), and spells out the trade-offs if the stack goes over budget.
Is the Pipeline Picker free?
Yes. The Pipeline Picker and the Festival Finder are free and run in your browser; your answers are not sent to us or stored.
Do affiliate commissions affect the recommendations?
No. Recommendations come from fixed rules based on your answers and budget. Affiliate links are not connected yet; if they go live, they will be disclosed and will not change the rules.
Where can I submit an AI film?
The Festival Finder lists 21 AI film festivals and contests for 2026–27 with deadlines, fees, prizes and AI rules, data last verified 2026-10-15.
